Naomi Selig Mosaics
I have been working as a London based mosaic artist for 20 years. My work is featured in homes, community centres, public spaces and gardens in the UK and Europe. My inspiration comes from a wide variety of sources, including traditional art and mosaics from the Middle East and India, the Renaissance, as well as modern European art. I am stimulated by what is around me – landscapes, buildings, people – and this is reflected in my work, both in terms of the material I use and subject matter.
I like to explore and experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, from exquisite Venetian glass smalti to rubble which I find in local building sites. I may produce a small picture, a portrait, a large backdrop for a cafe, a garden installation, tables, pots or a large outdoor sculpture. I am commissioned by individuals and institutions. I have organised and worked in community projects with people of all ages and abilities. I am also a clinical psychologist which can be useful when working with vulnerable people and groups. I have exhibited in the UK and in Europe.
